Undertone
Voice · Chapters I–III
A low resonance emerges from the collapsed boundary between earth, mud, iron, the wounded, and the dead. Before it communicates, it changes the conditions of perception.
Installation No. 2
Installation Statement
Four perceptual spaces built from Chapters I–XV of Daniel Kraus’s Angel Down.
ANGEL DOWN: ELAN was not created to depict war. It constructs a space in which perception, judgment, responsibility, and the meaning of the body are transformed under the extreme conditions of the battlefield.
This is not a soundtrack that reproduces scenes from the novel. It asks what those events do to perception, and how their ethical structure can be transferred into the listener’s body through External Tech Noir and Sonic Architecture.
Everything begins with a low voice that has not yet become language.
Rooms
Each track changes the conditions of perception and moves the listener one stage closer to an incomprehensible other.
Voice · Chapters I–III
A low resonance emerges from the collapsed boundary between earth, mud, iron, the wounded, and the dead. Before it communicates, it changes the conditions of perception.
Command · Chapters IV–V
The voice becomes an instruction. To hear “Help him” is to be drawn toward danger, responsibility, and a presence that cannot yet be named.
Rule · Chapters VI–XI
A seemingly fair game receives the burden of decision. The rule obscures responsibility while ultimately selecting a single body.
Body · Chapters XII–XV
The selected body reaches the unknown. Rescue does not make the other comprehensible; it transforms the Umwelt of the one who makes contact.
Two Rooms from the Installation
These moving images are not illustrations of the novel. The literary source, the 1918 archive, and present sound interfere to form a third Umwelt.
The battlefield after its contours have been erased. A voice persists beneath noise, before language and before command.
The selected body reaches toward an incomprehensible presence. What returns from that contact is no longer the same.
The Installation Continues
The complete Production Note, four track reviews, audiovisual works, advance listening, MP3 and WAV downloads continue beyond this public threshold.
Enter ANGEL DOWN: ELANSource · Archive · System
Daniel Kraus’s novel and photographs from 1918 are placed within the same space as two independent forms of memory.
ELAN corresponds to Chapters I–XV. The music does not
reproduce the narrative; it reconstructs the perceptual and
ethical conditions created by it.
An archival photograph is not a transparent window into the past. It preserves one instant while suspending the time outside its frame. Fragments Shift System destabilizes that suspended time through sound.
Images are divided, displaced, delayed, and recomposed by sound pressure, frequency, duration, and silence. The image is not decorated by music; its conditions of existence are altered.

What changes is not the unknown,
but the Umwelt of the one who touched it.
